Mama Dim Sum was a hawker stall in Singapore renowned for offering restaurant-quality Cantonese dim sum at affordable prices. Established by Hong Kong-born chef Poon Ka Nang, the stall operated from late 2022 until its closure on August 31, 2023. Chef Poon Ka Nang, formerly the head dim sum chef at Spring Court and with experience at Crystal Jade and Tung Lok, founded Mama Dim Sum to bring high-quality dim sum to the heartlands. Located at Kai Xiang Food Centre in Jurong East, the stall quickly gained popularity for its handcrafted offerings. However, due to a significant drop in foot traffic at the food centre, Chef Poon decided to close the stall and return to working in a restaurant setting.

Products

  • Char Siew Bao : A fluffy steamed bun filled with tender, caramelized barbecued pork. The dough was fermented overnight using a house-grown yeast starter, resulting in a soft and airy texture.
  • Siew Mai : Traditional open-faced dumplings packed with juicy pork and prawn, topped with a goji berry for a touch of sweetness.
  • Fried Carrot Cake : Pan-fried radish cake with a crispy exterior and soft interior, made with chopped radishes and Chinese sausage, offering a savory and satisfying bite.
